Summary
The history of the meetings of professional associations of architects of the American continent during the 20th century featuring the debates regarding the urban transformations, the evolution from classicism to modernism and the development of policies to protect historic and natural patrimony. The authors state that -"these congresses are the most important congregation of American architects during the 20th century"- highlighting in the edition the contents of each event, from the first one held in 1920 in Uruguay, the ones celebrated in 1952 that included the North American countries, particularly México and in 1965 in Washington, transforming them into real Pan-American congresses.
