- Summary
- Each year MAM Sao Paulo programs exhibitions dedicated to important international artists. This show represents recognition of the art and strong cultural legacy in Brazil of talented artist Maria Helena Viera da Silva (b. Portugal 1908-1992), who arrived in Brazil within the settings of the modernism of the Estado Novo (1940's) and is considered one of the main precursors of abstract art in Brazil. This show on Viera da Silva was conceived by Nelson Aguilar and highlights her artistic production, striking for its major figurative aesthetics and profound abstract lines.
