- Abstract: The technology, applications, and potential uses of the video disc as an information resource and communications medium are examined. Information on types of disc systems and their manufacturers is presented. Video disc applications for consumers, educators, and businessmen are described. The use of video discs in information storageand retrieval (ISAR) systems is also examined. Technologies which compete with the video disc are discussed in the context of current and future development of television and information systems. Conclusions are presented regarding theeconomics of video discs as they affect potential users in various markets.
