- Summary
- Highlights the fundamental contributions of photographers, first on a small scale and then in full command of technique, introduced and consolidated the art of the camera, with which it established new ways view, represent and interact with reality. From little-studied historical sources, the "entrepreneurial spirit" of these pioneers, and the design/art of their craft, the work ranges from the early contributions of Fermin Restrepo Isaza or Wills and the Meliton Rodriguez technical expertise, and subjective portraits and "psychological" of Benjamin Street, even the hints of modernization in the work of Rafael Mesa, and population and industrial growth, already evident in the photographs of Obando, Mejia and Carvajal. It also reflects on various aspects, including the changes brought about photography in the production of images related to identity, power and the ideals of social progress in Antioquia. An important reference on the history of phography in Colombia.
