Summary
Sociologists of science have, over the past three decades or so, learned a great deal about the social organization of scientific communities and about the social construction of scientific knowledge. But progress has been relatively modest toward understanding the reciprocal relationships between science and its social, political, economic, organizational, and cultural settings.
