Summary
Exhibition of more than 800 popular, official and military memorabilia from private and public collections that document the urban and civil celebrations in honor of the first centennial of the Mexican Independence. The exhibition included photographs, posters, prints, coins, portraits, money bills, clothing, the chinaware used during the official celebrations and other popular objects related with this 1910 historic event. Many photographs of the architectural and urban patrimony created to commemorate it. In 1909, Thomas A. Edison asked the president of Mexico to record a brief message in his Orange County, NJ laboratory The enclosed CD is the live voice of the President of Mexico Porfirio Diaz registered in Edison's early phonographs and recorded onto a sheet phonograph cylinder. The CD is complemented with the essay "La Voz de General: Un Fonograma de Edison" by Rogelio Aguilar Jiménez explaining the early recording and its propagandistic purposes.
