Summary
As the daughter of one of Oklahoma's first appointed Indian Territory judges, Carolyn Thomas Foreman researched and wrote on Native American culture and history. In this present work, Foreman corrected the problematic misogynistic stereotypes that white Americans have applied to native women. She presents historical examples of women tribal leaders with exceptional legislative and judicative powers, who advocated for the equality of women as citizens and their rights to property and property stewardship
