- The book "Fortune and decadence of a generation" by noted art historian Juana Gutiérrez Haces (1948-2007) documents and analyzes the historiography and art criticism from the 17th century to the 20th century regarding the painters close to Miguel Cabrera, the most prolific and noted artist from the colonial period, as evidence of the possible existence of a old Mexican School of Painting that was the base of the nationalism of the 18th century. "This interesting book published today by IIE was originally a chapter of the thesis that academic Juana Gutiérrez Haces elaborated to obtain the degree of Doctor (Ph.D) in Art History in the Faculty of Philosophy and Literature of the UNAM.
