Summary
Detailed study and presentation Amatitlán lakes and archaeological deposits that bear witness to the life and religious beliefs of its inhabitants over the centuries. This book brings together for the first time an example of the extraordinary items recovered in the depths of both lakes. Guillermo Mata Amado, a pioneer of underwater archeology in the New World, describes and analyzes Amatitlán underwater deposits, formed as a result of intense activities of worship throughout the centuries. Sonia Medrano reports research in Samabaj, a town that was submerged by the waters of Lake Atitlán more than two thousand years.
