- Pre-Hispanic Mayan painting are the mirror of the social order of an era, of their religious beliefs and even of the influences that shape this culture, This book edited by Meredith Paxton, academic of the University of New Mexico and by Manuel Hermann, academic of the Centro de Investigaciones y Estudios Superiores en Antropología Social (CIESAS), comprises a collection of texts in which various specialists analyze, from a multidisciplinary perspective the graphic representations left by the Mayas hundreds of years ago. The articles comprising this edition are a careful selection of papers related to the topic that were presented originally in the VII Congreso Internacional de Mayistas held in Mérida, Yucatán in 2007.
