Summary
Time is the central theme of "Mountain Below", the most recent exhibition of multimedia artist Nelson Vergara (b. Colombia 1966), comprising a series of installations that span from the Amazon to the Caribbean. The show consists mainly of projections of videos of places from his childhood and teenage years, such as the snow topped mountain Nevado del Ruiz, the city of Bogota, the rivers Amazon, Meta and Magdalena, which were captured by the artist in a journeys that took ten days aboard a boat. After spending more than a decade in Germany, Vergara returned six years ago to rediscover Colombia "these travels concentrated an aesthetic question that had risen during his studies in Germany -the relation between time and space, his body and the media languages- by the construction of a poetic that will think politically over territories in their broader sense: as public and historical spaces."--P. 9.
