- Summary
- Andre Previn arrived in Hollywood in 1939 as a ten-year-old German refugee who would learn English in large part from going to the movies. By the age of sixteen, he was a classically trained musician, playing piano after school at a silent movie revival house and arranging music for radio shows, when fate landed him in the music department at MGM ... He became one of the most acclaimed composer/arrangers in Hollywood history, fashioning the scores of an astonishing variety of films- from classics like Gigi, My Fair Lady, and Irma la Douce to Challenge to Lassie, a Date with Judy, and Jesus Christ Superstar -winning four Academy Awards in thirteen nominations.
