Summary
Ch. 9 (pp. 221-257), "La persécution des Juifs", discusses some aspects of the situation of the Jews during the war, both under German occupation and in the Vichy zone. Concentrates on the issue of collaboration through denunciations. Quotes from letters written to the Commissariat Général aux Questions Juives informing on Jews. Asserts that the main cause of denunciation was envy, due to Jewish material possessions. Quotes, also, from letters written by Jews to their families abroad describing their fate. The letters were censored by Vichy postal control.
