Summary
The exhibition brings together three major projects of the research career of artist Gilberto Esparza (b. Aguascalientes, Mexico 1975): "Parásitos urbanos" (2006-2008), "Plantas nómadas" (2008-2013) and "Plantas autofotosintéticas" (2013-2014). These projects are categorized as BioArt, a confluence between robotics, biology, and a special attention to the relationship between nature and urban space, to the imbalances between the ecosystem and the action of human beings. In the case of the project "Planas nómadas" (Nomad plants), waste water is converted into energy to sustain a basic ecosystem of protozoans, crustaceans and microalgae that visitors can observe during the duration of the exhibition. Esparza's projects are distinguished by the quality of his research and his social and political commitment.
