Summary

Memoirs of a Jew born in 1916 in Warsaw. He was a policeman in the ghetto of Otwock (near Warsaw), and participated in the liquidation of the ghetto. His wife and daughter were deported and perished. Afterwards, he lived in hiding in Warsaw. He began writing the story of his life in May 1943. He died of typhus in 1944. Includes an afterword by Paweł Szapiro (pp. 234-247) and notes (pp. 248-272). This version of the diary, based on a censored, typewritten manuscript held in ŻIH, was later found to be inaccurate, having been "edited" by Polish authorities. The correct version was published by the same publisher as "Spowiedź: Dzieje rodziny żydowskiej podczas okupacji hitlerowskiej w Polsce" in 2004.
